Manchester City Fans Display Support Amid Financial Scandal

As Manchester City faces the possibility of exclusion from the Premier League due to a financial scandal, their supporters displayed an impressive show of loyalty during the Champions League match against PSG.

Recently, an independent commission found Manchester City guilty of 115 financial offenses. A sanction is expected to be announced soon, which could include the team being stripped of trophies won between 2009 and 2018 and potentially banned from the league.

Before the match against PSG commenced, fans in one stand raised placards that transformed the entire section into the club’s signature sky blue. The middle section displayed darker blue placards, creating the acronym “CTID,” which stands for “City Till I Die,” symbolizing unwavering loyalty to the club during uncertain times.

Sky Sports journalist Ben Ransom explained the significance of the “CTID” message, emphasizing the fans’ steadfast support. Meanwhile, supporters in the opposite stand showcased a tribute featuring David White, a club legend.

This tribute harkened back to a memorable incident in 1993 when White delivered a speech filled with expletives directed at Graeme Souness, Liverpool’s then-coach, after scoring against the Reds. This display served as a reminder that Manchester City has a rich history that predates the arrival of its Arab ownership in 2008.

Pep Guardiola, who has managed the team for the past decade, was also present at the Etihad Stadium during the match.
