Messi’s Farewell Match Features Superliga Players Yohan Roche and Matteo Ahlinvi

Lionel Messi’s farewell match for the Argentine national team ended in a 3-0 victory against Benin, featuring two players with direct ties to Romania’s Superliga: Yohan Roche, who recently left the league, and Matteo Ahlinvi, a summer transfer.
Roche, a former central defender for Petrolul Ploiești, started in Benin’s defense, having previously spent two seasons with the Romanian club where he scored two goals and provided two assists. He currently plays in Greece for Iraklis.
During the first half, Messi had a chance near Roche, who was substituted in stoppage time for Amiro Amadou.
Matteo Ahlinvi, a midfielder for Farul Constanța, also represented Romania at the iconic “El Monumental” stadium. He came on in the 64th minute for Junior Olaitan from Beșiktaș, making a notable appearance and delivering several passes in the opponent’s half, including a dangerous cross during a set piece.
Ahlinvi was transferred to Farul this summer from Russia and quickly became one of the team’s key players, having already scored against UTA Arad, Corvinul Hunedoara, and Csikszereda, as well as providing an assist in the match against FCSB.
The starting XI for the West African team in the match against Argentina lined up in a 4-1-4-1 formation: Djandjinou – Omore, Roche, Tijani, T. Ourou – D’Almeida – Y. Ourou, Imourane, Olaitan, Aloko – Tosin.
