Florin Tănase Supports Gică Hagi’s Continuation as Romania’s Coach

Florin Tănase, 31, who played as a forward under Gică Hagi, 61, in Romania’s recent 0-1 loss to Sweden, is confident that the legendary coach will continue in his role despite the team suffering four consecutive defeats in the Nations League.
Romania’s recent form has been alarming, with losses including a 1-2 defeat in Sweden and a disappointing 2-4 home loss to Bosnia without spectators. The team’s most humiliating outing was a staggering 0-6 defeat in Warsaw.
Tănase Expresses Confidence in Hagi’s Leadership
Tănase remarked, “In the first three matches, we played poorly. Today, we didn’t deserve to lose; we had good opportunities while they had few chances, only one near the end. We showed that we can improve, and I believe the future will be brighter for us.” He emphasized the importance of the support from fans, who showed up in large numbers despite the recent losses.
When asked if the team is beginning to implement Hagi’s desired playing style, Tănase replied, “Yes, definitely. There were details that made a difference, as he mentioned. He has taken responsibility for rotating players to develop a different team for each match.” He noted that future selections would not involve as much rotation, expressing confidence in the squad’s potential to achieve positive results going forward. Tănase concluded, “We need to stay optimistic about our future performances.”
