Cristi Chivu (44 years old), the technician from Inter, drew the first conclusions, after his team lost on Saturday evening against those from Naples, score 1-3, in the match that was the headliner of the round with number 8 in Serie A. A day before his 45th birthday, the Romanian technician failed to gift himself with the victory and missed the chance to climb to first place in the ranking.
After the match, contrary to what happened during the 90 minutes, Cristi Chivu praised his students for the progress made in this game, appreciating the progress and attitude of the players he is training, declaring himself confident.
He also addressed the subject scandal in the area of reserve banks between Antonio Conte and two of the Nerazzurri players, Denzel Dumfries and captain Lautaro Martinez.
Cristi Chivu: “It was a waste of energy thrown out the window”
“I want to talk about the football, the good things our boys did to stay in the game. We hit the bar twice, we were led up the table despite our reaction, and in the second half we lost our balance a bit, conceding 2-0. We managed to get back into the game with a penalty. After that we wasted energy arguing with their bank and didn't have the lucidity to turn the game around.
It was a waste of energy thrown out the window, we had to stay lucid. In the second goal we were caught off guard by a ball thrown there by Spinazzola, then we reacted late, and the third goal was the consequence of the lack of clarity.
That's what I do, I defend my team. I'm proud of what the guys are doing and I'm even more confident. We saw an excellent first half, we managed to dominate, coming here to play our game. Unfortunately, football is what it is, and we may have missed something.
I don't know what happened and I don't really care, but I will talk to them because we can't throw everything we've done right out the window just to argue with the other bank. We have to think about who we are and where we want to go”, said Cristi Chivu after the match, at the press conference, quoted by Tutto Mercato Web.
