A Russian military strike targeted the ‘Stolichny’ market in the suburb of Sofiaivska Borshchahivka, near Kyiv, resulting in two confirmed fatalities as of 10 PM local time. Emergency responders are actively working at the scene to extinguish fires and address the aftermath of the attack.
Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that the market is ablaze, with additional injuries reported, including at least four individuals. Earlier in the day, Klitschko noted that nine people had been injured in attacks throughout the city on September 27, including a child.
The impact of the strikes was felt across various districts in Kyiv. In the Holosiivskyi district, a drone struck an administrative building, while debris fell in a nearby park and close to a children’s playground. In the Darnytskyi district, an aerial drone hit a nine-story residential building, and in the Solomianskyi district, a warehouse was targeted. Additionally, shockwaves from the explosions damaged windows in several buildings in the Podilskyi district.

The ‘Stolichny’ market, located on the Great Ring Road in Sofiaivska Borshchahivka, was opened in 2011. It features six main pavilions selling a variety of goods including fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy products, and cheeses.
