Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has indicated that a tri-lateral meeting yielding tangible outcomes could take place in December during the G20 summit in Miami. He has requested former President Donald Trump to engage with Chinese leader Xi Jinping to encourage Russian President Vladimir Putin towards concluding the ongoing conflict, at least by taking steps towards de-escalation.
Trump has pledged to relay Zelensky’s request to Xi, urging him to influence Putin’s approach. Currently, discussions are focused on three potential ceasefire options: energy, grain, and maritime agreements, which may extend beyond just grain to include energy and metallurgy.
Negotiations involving American diplomats, including those with Jared Kushner and others, have already taken place, although there are no formal proposals available on paper yet. The U.S. team anticipates a couple of weeks to conduct further negotiations with Russian representatives and explore viable formats for these discussions.
