Vitaliy Kim Engages US Veteran Affairs for Collaboration on PTSD and Prosthetics

Vitaliy Kim, the head of the Mykolaiv regional military administration, recently held a significant meeting with Doug Collins, the Secretary of the US Department of Veterans Affairs. This marks the first encounter between the two in a considerable time. During the discussions, both parties agreed to exchange lessons learned in areas such as prosthetics and PTSD rehabilitation.

As Ukraine continues to face the repercussions of war, the effects of combat stress are being felt not only by military personnel and veterans but also by their families and the civilian population. Kim emphasized the importance of understanding American approaches to psychological rehabilitation and long-term support for veterans. He stated, “The next step is to work at the level of teams and specialists to explore the practices of both countries in detail and identify further avenues for collaboration.”
