Anton Siluanov, the Finance Minister of Russia, will participate in the G20 energy summit in the United States on August 31, marking his first appearance since the start of the full-scale war. Reports indicate that this invitation was extended by the administration of former President Donald Trump.
The upcoming meeting, scheduled from September 14 to 16, will also see participation from various U.S. officials, including Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, Energy Secretary Chris Wright, and White House representative Jarrod Agen.
The specific representative from Russia has not yet been disclosed, according to agency reports. It is anticipated that officials from energy departments across Europe and Asia will also be present at the summit.
Analysts point out that the European Union’s efforts to achieve energy independence from Russian oil and gas are facing challenges, especially with winter approaching and gas reserves at unusually low levels.
