Alternative for Germany’s Electoral Success Sparks Concerns Across Europe

The Alternative for Germany (AfD) has stirred significant attention following its recent success in the Saxony-Anhalt regional elections. Kremlin presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev described this outcome as a “historic victory,” asserting that the AfD’s triumph “humiliates the arrogance, narrow-mindedness, war instincts, stupidity, and hypocrisy of the discredited German government coalition.”
This electoral result is pivotal, especially regarding Germany’s stance toward Moscow, as noted by the Italian newspaper La Stampa, which cites insights from Rador Radio Romania. The upcoming regional elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, where the AfD could potentially become the largest party, and in the city-state of Berlin on September 20, will serve as crucial tests for the party’s growing influence.
