Denis Drăguș Joins FCSB on Three-Year Deal Amid Career Struggles

Denis Drăguș, a 27-year-old Romanian forward, is set to join FCSB following a difficult period in his career. Under the urging of Gigi Becali, Drăguș will sign a three-year contract, although there is more to this move than meets the eye.

Drăguș faced difficulties at Trabzonspor, where he struggled to find playing time. Last season, he was loaned to Gaziantep, but did not meet performance expectations. His move to FCSB represents his most viable option at this point, even though there was interest from Levski Sofia.

Drăguș’s Strategy at FCSB

Denis Drăguș aims to revitalize his career at FCSB by scoring several goals this season and rekindling interest from clubs in Italy, where he has previous connections. Currently, no Italian team has shown interest in him due to his lack of match play and goal-scoring over the past six months, with only two goals in the Turkish Cup recorded on February 5, 2026.

Drăguș has experience in Italy, having played one year at Crotone and half a year at Genoa, both on loan from Standard Liege. During his time at Genoa, he scored five goals but did not score during his stint at Crotone, where he made nine appearances without contributions.

This marks Drăguș’s second club in Romania; he previously played for Farul before starting his international career. His history includes stints at Standard Liege, Gaziantep, Trabzonspor, and Eyupspor, with a current market value estimated at two million euros.

In addition to his club career, Drăguș is a significant player for the Romanian national team, with 28 caps, seven goals, and one assist, making him a key figure in the squad.

“He is incredibly strong and can win a match single-handedly. He drives through defenders like a tank, racing towards the goal. I declared that the best Romanian player is Drăguș, considering him better than Bîrligea. I paid 1.5 million for Bîrligea for one year, and I’m paying 1 million for Drăguș this year, leaving me with 500,000. Drăguș is a better player. I’ve signed him as a left winger because I like his style. He comes down the flank like a bulldozer. Currently, he can also play centrally. I still need to sign another forward in the coming days because I want to play David Miculescu alongside another attacker and Drăguș,” stated Gigi Becali, FCSB’s owner.
