Victor Angelescu Confident in Rapid’s Title Aspirations Following Strong Start

Victor Angelescu, a minority shareholder of Rapid, expressed confidence that the team has proven it can keep pace with title contenders after the first seven matches of the season.
He reflected on the recent 1-1 draw against Universitatea Craiova and noted that the gap in skill during their earlier loss to Dinamo (0-1) was minimal. Angelescu believes that Rapid is at least on par with its competitors so far, making their goal of clinching a new title in Giulești, after 23 years, a realistic ambition.
Victor Angelescu: “We Have Shown We Can Compete with Anyone. Why Not Hope for the Title?”
“We played well in the first seven rounds compared to other teams. We have demonstrated that we can compete with anyone. We could have beaten Craiova, the current champions, as it was a balanced match. I can’t say Dinamo won unfairly,” Angelescu stated on FotbalShow at PrimaSport.
“Last season, we played pragmatically and won by defending. As for the teams we have faced so far, apart from FCSB and U Cluj, whom we haven’t played yet and know are playoff contenders, we’ve been on equal footing with the others.”
He emphasized that as long as the team’s performance continues to match that of title contenders, there is no reason not to aspire for the championship.
Currently, Rapid sits in second place with 12 points, just two points shy of leaders Dinamo. The team’s next challenge includes a Cup match against rivals Poli Timișoara, followed by a Superligă match away at Oțelul Galați on Sunday evening at 20:30.
