Following the 1-1 draw between Rapid and Universitatea Craiova, Raul Rusescu expressed strong criticism regarding the condition of the pitch at Giulești during his appearance on GSP Live Special.
Rusescu indicated that the technical mistakes made by players from both Craiova and Rapid stemmed from the poor pitch conditions, highlighting a significant miss by Kamara, who shot wide from close range.
The three-time Romanian champion praised Olimpiu Moruțan, who provided the assist for the equalizing goal scored by Stojilkovic.
Rusescu: “Technical Errors Due to Horrible Pitch Conditions”
“The second half had a much better rhythm and intensity, with some good chances. The equalizer was a beautiful goal created by their best player, without a doubt, Moruțan, who is one of the few true footballers in Rapid’s squad,” Rusescu stated.
He continued, “While the second half improved, we still saw technical errors because of the deplorable state of the pitch. It’s unreal that in Romania, during August, we have such a bad pitch. What will happen in December or January?”
Rusescu mentioned that it was unfair to criticize Kamara for his missed opportunity, attributing it to the poor field conditions, which made the surface feel like a trampoline. He emphasized, “It’s August, not November or December. It’s a shame, as the quality of football is diminishing. Both teams suffered due to the terrible pitch quality,” he concluded during his segment on GSP Live Special.
This playoff system allows for the creation of a team identity to use in playoffs. That’s what Daniel Pancu must do at Rapid, while Craiova already has that. The challenge for Craiova will be maintaining the rhythm; it’s evident that they made five substitutions in this match, but none of the new players brought in this summer made an impact. We need to be realistic; the bar was set very high last summer, and achieving the same success this summer is not easy. Plus, now you must add value instead of just changing the squad, which is the hardest part to find for us in Romania,” Rusescu stated on GSP Live Special.
