Ukraine should accept Putin's proposal to start direct conversations, because at least we will know what we are standing on – said US President Donald Trump on Sunday. At the same time, he admitted that “he began to doubt” whether Ukraine would go to the arrangement with Russia.

Trump reacted in this way in the entry on his Truth Social portal to the rejection by Vladimir Putin Putin of the American-European proposal of a 30-day suspension of weapons.

“Russian President Putin does not want to have an agreement on the suspension of weapons with Ukraine, but he wants to meet on Thursday in Turkey to negotiate the possible end of the slaughterhouse. Ukraine should agree to this, immediately,” wrote Trump. “At least they will be able to determine if the agreement is possible, and if not, European leaders and US will know what everything is standing and will be able to act properly,” he added.

At the same time, he admitted that “he began to doubt that Ukraine would conclude an agreement with Putin, who is too busy with celebrating victory in World War II,” which he would not win without America.

“Organize a meeting now !!!” he called.

Trump's reaction to Putin's words conflicts with the reaction of European leaders, who with him on Saturday called Russia to unconditional acceptance of a 30-day arms suspension, threatening to impose sanctions on Moscow.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland Donald Tusk, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the President of Ukraine Wołodymyr Zelnski said on Sunday that until the start of talks it was necessary to stop fighting first. Trump's envoy agreed with this opinion to Ukraine General Keith Kellogg.

“First, an unconditional 30 -day suspension of weapons, and during this period you need to go to comprehensive peace conversations. Not the other way around,” Kellogg wrote on Platform X.
