Russian Drone Attack Damages Border Crossing Between Moldova and Ukraine

During the night, Russian drones targeted a border crossing with Moldova located in Ukraine’s Odesa region, leading to significant damage, as reported by the Ukrainian Border Service on Friday.

Following the attack, traffic for passengers and vehicles at the Tabaki checkpoint has been halted and redirected to other border crossing points, the service announced via Telegram.

The strikes specifically affected the Bolgrad and Ismail districts within Odesa, according to reports from Moldova 1.

The authorities in the Republic of Moldova have been notified regarding the damage incurred at the border crossing.

As a result of the drone attack, the Ukrainian border checkpoint experienced disruptions, as reported by Moldpres.

Response from Moldovan Authorities

The Ministry of Internal Affairs in Chișinău confirmed that drones had fallen on Ukrainian territory, approximately 300 meters from the Moldovan border.

At around 12:35 AM, Moldovan border police patrolling the area reported hearing “specific noises from Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles” and observed multiple explosions within Ukraine near the Tabaki checkpoint.

In light of these events, operations at the Mirnoe (Moldova) – Tabaki (Ukraine) border crossing have been suspended, as stated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Preliminary information indicates that there were no casualties reported.

The Ministry further noted that, to date, no drone fragments have been identified within the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

This incident at Tabaki occurred just a day after another reported attack on the Ukrainian border point at Reni, located near the Moldova border, according to Agerpres.
