SpaceX has officially added Poland to its European Starlink roaming zone, ensuring that Polish customers will not face discrimination compared to users in other European countries. This decision follows a request from Polish officials, including a statement from Polish MP Marek Gawkowski, who expressed satisfaction with the outcome.
Gawkowski remarked, “SpaceX responded to my request and will not treat Polish customers worse than clients in other European nations. The declaration I received is clear: Poland will be included in the internal European Starlink Roam travel zone. Polish customers will not be subjected to any new restrictions.” He described this news as a positive development for users in Poland.
He also urged for a swift implementation of SpaceX’s commitment and emphasized the importance of equal treatment for Polish Starlink users with those in other European countries.
As of August 14, SpaceX has indeed incorporated Poland into the list of countries for the European Starlink roaming zone, which spans over 30 nations. This allows users to move their terminals across these countries without additional limitations. Previously, a note indicated that Poland did not belong to this region, and accounts registered there were considered solely for use within Poland. This note has now been removed.
The decision followed backlash from Polish officials, including Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, who publicly criticized SpaceX’s initial exclusion of Poland from the roaming zone. Sikorski urged Elon Musk to halt the discrimination against Polish users, hinting that Poland might reconsider its annual contribution of $50 million for Starlink services in Ukraine if the situation persisted.
