Strong Earthquake Hits Eastern Turkey with Magnitude Over 5

A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck eastern Turkey on Thursday, as reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). The earthquake occurred at 10:40 AM local time, with a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).

The tremor was notably felt in Diyarbakir and neighboring provinces, including Adiyaman and Sanliurfa. Reports indicate varying magnitude readings: the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) recorded a magnitude of 5.4, while the Kandilli Observatory, another seismic monitoring institution, reported a higher magnitude of 5.8.
