FCSB is gearing up for its away match against Sepsi, scheduled for Monday. The team will welcome back goalkeeper Stefan Tarnovanu to the lineup.
Stefan Tarnovanu, who is 26 years old, returned to FCSB’s starting position at the beginning of the season after being replaced by Matei Popa during the latter part of the previous season at the request of club owner Gigi Becali. However, disappointing performances, culminating in a 1-4 loss to FK Auda, led to his exclusion from the squad.
Marius Baciu Confirms Tarnovanu’s Return
After being left out of the lineup for the match against Farul, which ended in a 2-2 draw, Tarnovanu will now travel with the team to Sf. Gheorghe, according to coach Marius Baciu.
“I gave Tarnovanu two days off, and now he is back in the team’s schedule and will travel with us,” Baciu stated at the pre-match press conference ahead of the Sepsi vs. FCSB game.
Having joined FCSB in 2020, Tarnovanu has played 211 matches for the club, conceding 237 goals and keeping a clean sheet on 73 occasions.
Becali’s Harsh Criticism of Tarnovanu
Following the loss to FK Auda, Gigi Becali expressed strong criticism towards Tarnovanu.
“His mind was on gambling! He was friends with someone; otherwise, I don’t understand. Both at the 3-2 goal in the first leg and at this goal, how could he stand there not to prevent the goal? Is this a goalkeeper? How can you bow down? It’s like saying, ‘Hey, what are you doing, are you sleeping to let me concede a goal?’”
Becali continued with his critique, stating, “He was at fault for the bars. Why was he positioned there if he was not going to stop the goal? He is the weakest goalkeeper, but I won’t let him leave. Maybe he thinks I’ll let him go if he performs well; I won’t let him go. He can stay as a reserve.”
“He was borrowing money, and now he wants to leave for millions. If I hadn’t criticized him, he would’ve never improved! He should’ve been thoroughly scolded! He wouldn’t make those mistakes if I had done that. His foot movements were careless. I’m no longer interested. Tarnovanu’s mistakes stem from carelessness and arrogance, likely due to gambling issues. There is definitely a problem; no goalkeeper can make that many errors. He didn’t make those mistakes on purpose; he’s not a criminal. His mind is definitely not on football; there is something wrong in his life, that’s for sure!”
