Ukraine Seeks Additional Patriot Missiles Amid Supply Concerns

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced a recent agreement with the United States regarding the supply of Patriot missiles. He emphasized the insufficiency of current missile supplies, stating, “In 2026, the number of these missiles has decreased. In 2025, we had more monthly deliveries.”

Zelensky noted that both Germany and Poland are positioned to provide significant assistance in acquiring anti-ballistic missiles. He pointed out, “Other countries are also involved. We are continuously working with the Nordic countries—Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland—as well as the Netherlands, which are contributing in various ways, although I cannot disclose the specifics or quantity of missiles.”

Furthermore, Zelensky mentioned his daily communications with representatives from European and Middle Eastern nations to secure additional missile supplies beyond those provided by the U.S. He stressed, “Everyone must contribute; otherwise, we will face a shortage of missiles.”

In context, since the full-scale war began, Ukraine has received over 600 Patriot interceptors from the U.S. and its allies, according to the presidential office’s reports from March. However, media claims, which the Pentagon denies, suggest that the U.S. has depleted half of its missile stockpile during the conflict in Iran. Zelensky had previously highlighted the extensive use of over 800 PAC-3 interceptors in just three days of operations in Iran. He lamented that Ukraine has never had so many missiles for defense during the ongoing conflict.

In late July, during a meeting with Trump, Zelensky requested the provision of 300 Patriot missiles for Ukraine, but reports indicated that the U.S. president declined this request. The Washington Post reported on August 5 that this year, the Trump administration urged European countries to share their Patriot missiles with Ukraine, though several nations declined to do so.
