Romania Advances to U18 Women’s Basketball Championship Semifinals

Romania has successfully progressed to the semifinals of the U18 Women’s Basketball Championship after defeating Bulgaria 69-51 in an electrifying atmosphere at the new arena in Tulcea.
The Romanian team, known as the “Tricolorele,” has now won all five of its matches in the tournament. In addition to today’s victory against Bulgaria, the team triumphed over Azerbaijan with a score of 81-55, Iceland 100-73, Portugal 62-46, and the Netherlands 75-65.
The new Polivalent Hall in Tulcea is proving to be a popular venue, having reached full capacity for three consecutive days, accommodating 4,670 fans each time.

THE DANUBIUS ARENA IS ALIVE AGAIN FOR ROMANIA! 4,670 voices sang “Deșteaptă-te, române!” for the third night in a row in a completely packed arena. This moment is felt deeply and unites us all. A full hall for Romania. – Romanian Basketball Federation
“TULCEA, WE HAVE A SMALL ISSUE: THE ARENA IS TOO SMALL! First place in the group for Romania. And the last two games? 4,670 people, or ‘sold out’ for every seat.
It seems the voices that feared the Danubius Arena would remain empty were in for a surprise… it’s hard to find available seats now! You created an incredible atmosphere, you sang, and you pushed Romania towards a perfect run,” posted the administrators of the Polivalent Hall on social media.
A total of 22,493 spectators attended Romania’s five tournament matches.
The Tulcea arena is the fifth-largest Polivalent Hall in Romania, following BT Arena in Cluj (10,000 seats), the Polivalent Hall in Bucharest (5,300), the Polivalent Hall in Oradea (5,300), and Pitești Arena (4,900). The construction of this impressive venue, nicknamed “the UFO” by locals due to its shape, began in 2022 and was inaugurated at the end of July for this tournament.
The new hall features a main competition court surrounded by seating for 4,670, a training court located underground just below the main playing surface, underground parking, changing rooms for teams and officials, media spaces, and a conference room.
