According to the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, the tender announced in May concerns the implementation of a technical and construction design and the implementation of a section of the A2 motorway with a length of over 16 km.
The contractor's task will be to develop documentation, obtain the necessary administrative decisions and build the road. The deadline for submitting offers is December 4, 2025.
The A2 motorway is getting longer. Important changes for drivers
The planned motorway will have two roads with two lanes and a reserve for a third lane. The investment will include the construction of engineering structures, local roads, lighting, drainage, as well as sidewalks and bicycle paths. A2 motorway. Comfort for drivers, safety for animals
The Kałuszyn-Groszki section, constructed by Intercor, cost over PLN 500 million, of which approximately PLN 339 million came from EU funds. The route has been routed along a new track, bypassing Kałuszyn and diverting transit traffic from this town.. The investment included, among others: Groszki junction, nine viaducts, a bridge integrated with an animal crossing and 24 animal crossings.
Important additional information
1. A2 motorway – difficulties
Road works are underway on the A2 motorway in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, especially on the sections between Poznań and the Passenger Service Center in Tulce, which causes changes in traffic organization and difficulties for drivers.
It is worth bearing in mind that, apart from accidents, ongoing renovation and expansion works, such as the installation of noise barriers and other investments on various sections of the motorway, they may also generate periodic difficulties
2. A2 motorway – tolls
Tolls on the A2 motorway in Poland depend on the sections and vehicle categories. On the operating concession section Świecko-Konin, tolls apply for various categories of vehicles: for passenger cars it is approximately PLN 37, for motorcycles PLN 19, and for heavier and oversized vehicles the rates increase in proportion to the number of axles and weight. On the public Konin–Stryków section, tolls are collected in the e-TOLL system, i.e. electronically.
In detail, on the Świecko-Konin section, passenger car drivers they pay about PLN 36-37, motorcycles about PLN 18-19, and heavier vehicles, e.g. three-axle or oversize vehicles, will pay correspondingly more (up to about PLN 370 for the largest vehicles). Fees include 23% VAT. Price lists may differ on individual sections of the motorway and are updated (e.g. from September 11, 2025 there were increases on the Nowy Tomyśl–Konin section). Traditional turnstiles on selected sections allow payment by card or cash.
For example, a ride along the entire private Świecko-Konin section costs approximately PLN 129, and a ride along the entire paid section of A2 in total costs approximately PLN 120-126, depending on the exact route. The public part of A2 (Konin – Stryków) collects electronic tolls. There are also smaller and free sections on the A2 route apart from these toll sections.
3. A2 motorway. How to pay?
On the A2 motorway in Poland, you can pay tolls in several ways, depending on the section:
- On the concession section (between Poznań and Konin) there is a video tolling system that enables automatic charging of fees without stopping at the toll gates. You can pay for the ride automatically via the Autopay application or other systems that support video tolling.
- There are no traditional gates on the state-owned section of the A2 motorway. Drivers can pay electronically, for example via the e-TOLL system or via satellite on-board devices.
- At toll collection points on the concession section, the fee can be paid in cash (PLN, EUR, USD), payment card (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro) or fuel card.
- Payments in cash or by card are traditionally made at toll plazas, where the driver collects a ticket at the entrance and pays at the motorway exit.
The integration of video tolling and automatic payments enables more convenient travel without stopping at toll gates, especially on the Poznań – Konin section, where the system has been operating since January 2025.
