The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) is gearing up for potential impacts on energy production due to an upcoming solar eclipse scheduled for next Wednesday, August 12. This announcement was made by a spokesperson from the European Commission on Thursday.
Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, the Commission’s spokesperson for Climate and Energy, stated that the solar eclipse will affect energy production, prompting ENTSO-E to establish a dedicated operational group to prepare for this event. The members of this group are set to convene tomorrow, Friday, to plan for possible repercussions.
Despite the preparations, Itkonen emphasized that the expected impact of the eclipse is not anticipated to be significant, as the event will occur close to sunset.
