Organizers of the Ozora psychedelic festival, one of Europe’s largest trance music events held in Hungary, announced on Sunday that all concerts would be suspended starting at midnight due to two fatalities that occurred during the event, according to reports.
On Saturday, a 45-year-old American climbed one of the decorative structures surrounding the main stage and subsequently fell to his death, as confirmed by local police to the Hungarian news site FEOL.
Authorities and festival organizers suspect that the man may have intentionally taken his own life.
Earlier that day, a 39-year-old woman collapsed, likely due to extreme heat, and resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, FEOL reported.
In light of these tragic incidents, the festival organizers stated in a press release that all musical programming would end at midnight.
The Ozora festival commenced on July 24 in Dadpuszta, central Hungary, with the final performances expected to take place on Monday.
Hungary has been under a maximum alert level since Thursday due to a heatwave, with temperatures projected to reach up to 40°C over the weekend.
