Jovo Lukic Set to Break Transfer Record for U Cluj

George Florescu, a former midfielder for U Cluj, believes that Bosnian striker Jovo Lukic will secure a record transfer fee for the club, potentially exceeding the amount received from Andrei Coubiș’s transfer to Lincoln City in the Championship.
With 18 goals last season, Lukic has emerged as the top scorer in Liga 1 for the 2025-2026 season. He also made an impression at the recent World Cup, playing for Bosnia and scoring against Canada.
Florescu’s Prediction on Lukic’s Transfer Value
After a lengthy break due to his participation in the World Cup, the 27-year-old Lukic recently returned to U Cluj’s squad and scored twice in the double-header against Brann Bergen, which ended 3-5 on aggregate in the second preliminary round of the Conference League.
“He returned and scored against Brann, so it shows Lukic is in good form. Let’s hope he’s great for U Cluj and fetches a fee of 5 million! Or at least over 3 million,” Florescu stated during a live appearance on GSP Live.
Florescu, who previously played as a key midfielder for the Romanian national team, noted that Cristiano Bergodi’s team is well-equipped in the attack with the recent acquisition of Alibek Aliev from CFR Cluj. “I liked what I saw from him last year at CFR Cluj. He could be a good replacement for Lukic. While he may not reach Lukic’s level, Aliev is still a solid option,” he added.
U Cluj has recently recorded its most expensive sale in club history, with defender Andrei Coubiș, aged 22, being sold to Lincoln City for 3 million euros. Should Florescu’s forecast for Lukic materialize, the Bosnian striker could break the record set by Coubiș in the same transfer window.
What’s Next for Lukic?
Following the loss to Brann, where U Cluj fell 1-3, coach Cristiano Bergodi hinted that Lukic is likely to leave the club. “I believe this situation needs to be resolved. Things cannot continue like this. Lukic scored, good for him, but a solution must be found,” he remarked.
Recently, U Cluj president Radu Constantea revealed that he had declined a substantial offer for Lukic, which was suggested to be around two million euros. “We had potential discussions at two million euros, which we turned down,” stated the club’s head.
According to Transfermarkt, Jovo Lukic’s market value is currently estimated at 2.2 million euros.
