Ciprian Deac (40 years old) played his last official match on Friday, CFR Cluj – FC Arges 1-1. But he will remain at the club.

The former midfielder, who won 7 championship titles with CFR Cluj, is leaving the football tracksuit for the manager's suit. And from Monday he will start work as vice president, as revealed by Gazeta Sporturilor.

Ciprian Deac, since Monday vice president of CFR Cluj

And as of Monday, as Ioan Varga revealed for GSP.ro, he will be announced as vice president, and soon he will start his work in the new position.

“We are proud of the career he had and everything he did for us. And we are happy that he will continue at CFR Cluj, which is his home. The work starts on Monday. We are honored. And he told us that he feels respected and honored to stay here, as vice president. It will help us a lot. Both us and the players”Ioan Varga told Gazeta Sporturilor.

  • The current season has been a difficult one for the midfielder from Cluj, who only made 12 appearances, totaling just over 200 minutes. At the beginning of 2026, he was no longer included in coach Daniel Pancu's plans, missing even the winter camp.

  • Throughout his career, a truly exceptional one, he played for 19 seasons in the Super League (CFR Cluj, Oțelul, Rapid), during which he managed 89 goals and 103 decisive assists in 439 matches played in Romania's elite competition.

  • Ciprian Deac won 7 Romanian championship titles, 2 Romanian Cups and 4 Supercups, all in the shirt of CFR Cluj, being named “Footballer of the Year” in 2020.

Ciprian Deac: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for fulfilling my dream”

At the end of the match between CFR Cluj and FC Argeș, the Transylvanians turned off the lights, and Deac had a special moment at the end of his football career. Surrounded by teammates, opponents and family, he gave an impressive speech from the pitch.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my dream come true, to have a full stadium. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me feel like the most loved and appreciated player. I can only be happy. Thank you for the unconditional support offered throughout my career. I am proud to be part of the CFR family. I love you and I will stay here with an open heart.

I want to thank all the people at the club. I know the work doesn't show, but you protected us and made us feel like real footballers. I also thank my colleagues, without them I would not have been able to have such a career. Congratulations on what you have accomplished this season, congratulations Pancone! I don't know what the future holds for me, but I know it will be by your side! I love you!” said Ciprian Deac, at Prima Sport.

I tell the young players to respect this job. It's a privilege to be a footballer. Making money from what you love, what could be nicer? Football is not waiting for you, you have to give everything from now on. Nowadays, there are no more half measures.

Honestly, I didn't think about the future. I wanted to focus on football until the last day. From tomorrow we will go on vacation, I need a week or two. Tonight I didn't know if I would be able to play for a minute, because I have only been able to sleep for three hours for a week. I didn't have such emotions even when I debuted. They showed me how much this club and these wonderful supporters love me.
