Russian Satellites Provide Communication Over Ukraine for Drone Operations

Russian satellites known as “Rassvet” are currently providing at least two hours of communication coverage over Ukraine each day, which can be utilized for drone management, as reported by military sources. The Russians theoretically have the capability to utilize satellite terminals for communications and the control of maritime drones, as well as heavy strike and reconnaissance UAVs developed from the “Geran-2/3/4” series.

Of the 16 satellites launched, 12 have reached their operational altitude of 550 kilometers, three are gradually ascending, and one satellite reportedly burned up, likely due to a manufacturing defect. If the deployment of this satellite constellation continues at the current pace, it is expected to reach operational heights within October and November, providing an additional two communication “windows”.
