A drone attack on the logistics center of Wildberries in Volgograd has resulted in a large-scale fire. The head of the region also reported a fire in warehouse facilities located in the Dzerzhinsky district.
According to an analysis by Russian publication Asta of eyewitness video footage, Wildberries’ logistics complex, which spans over 48,000 square meters, was one of the sites targeted in the attack.
Preliminary reports indicate that drones also struck the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka oil refinery.
Wildberries confirmed the hit on its warehouse and announced a suspension of operations.
In another location, smoke was observed over the Wildberries warehouse in Zelenodolsk, Tatarstan, near another marketplace, Ozon; however, the incident did not appear to involve significant fire.
The mayor of Zelenodolsk, Mikhail Afanasyev, stated that the attack on the logistics center had been repelled and that there were no damages.
Later, the commander of the UAV forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Robert Brovdi (Madyar), confirmed a successful strike on the ninth Wildberries warehouse in Russia, stating on social media that a major fire had erupted at the facility.
Brovdi hinted that the Ozon marketplace could be the next target for drones, saying, “The concentration of ozone amid the poor berry harvest exceeds critical limits. A purple bush, pecked by the Valorous Ukrainian Bird [UAV unit ‘Madyar’s Birds’], is being poisoned by toxic ozone, turning into kindling, changing color, and dropping its fruit.”
