The Ombudsman, Lubinets, has called for the dismantling of the controversial ‘busification’ practice and for those responsible to be held accountable. This statement comes in light of an incident in Ivano-Frankivsk, where police allegedly broke a man’s arm and leg, subsequently placing him in a vehicle and transporting him to a military enlistment office instead of a hospital. After the man fell from the car, he was reportedly left lying on the ground for 15 minutes, during which time officers accused him of ‘faking’ his injuries. Following Lubinets’ initiative, the Ivano-Frankivsk regional prosecutor’s office has entered information about the case into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations (ERDR).
