Jeronimo Martins Polska had issued a termination notice for its contract with Wawel in March, set to take effect in July. However, it has been confirmed that their commercial collaboration will persist. Following this news, shares of the Polish confectionery manufacturer surged.

Despite the downward trend observed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange on Thursday, Wawel’s shares increased by over 1% to 718 PLN.

Termination Notice from Biedronka

On March 31, Wawel received a notice from Biedronka’s owner regarding the contract’s termination. The notice provided for a three-month notice period, effective at the end of June. As it turns out, Biedronka’s shelves were only devoid of Wawel’s sweets for a little over three weeks.

The company indicated it would engage in discussions to outline new potential terms for their commercial relationship.

In the first quarter of this year, Wawel’s sales revenue fell by 11% to 163 million PLN, while overall income increased by 18% to 21 million PLN.
