On July 17, the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) announced the 22 teams that will compete in the upcoming Liga 2 season. Notably, Poli Iași has withdrawn from the league due to financial difficulties, making way for CS Dinamo to take its place.
The draw to set the schedule for the 2026/27 Liga 2 season will occur on July 22 at 15:00.
Teams Competing in Liga 2 for the 2026/27 Season: CS Dinamo Replaces Poli Iași
Initially granted a license to compete in the second tier, Poli Iași’s financial issues led to their withdrawal from the championship.
The FRF had anticipated such a scenario, as the five teams relegated to the third league had also received licenses. CS Dinamo, which lost the relegation playoff, took advantage of this situation.
“Due to the submission of registration requests for the 2026-2027 season, a vacant spot remained. Following regulatory provisions, the FRF’s Emergency Committee decision on July 17 awarded the place to CS Dinamo București,” the FRF stated on its official website.

With Ionuț Chirilă appointed as coach, CS Dinamo will compete in Liga 2 next season. Should another team choose to withdraw, CSM Olimpia Satu Mare, the team with the highest points among those relegated to Liga 3, along with CS Tunari, Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț, and AFC Câmpulung Muscel, were positioned to benefit from this.
Following the schedule’s establishment on July 22, the new Liga 2 season is set to commence on August 1.
