Manchester City and Liverpool are battling for the signature of the new Premier League star

The Bournemouth forward wants his situation resolved as quickly as possible, ideally by January 1, at a time when interest from England's biggest clubs is intensifying and the winter transfer window is about to open, according to the BBC.

Decisive hours for the transfer of the new Premier League star

Manchester City appear, for now, to be the favorites to land the player's signature. The club coached by Pep Guardiola has fairly advanced negotiations with the representatives of the Ghana international, who has a release clause set at 74 million euros, valid until January 10. Further talks are scheduled between the parties in the coming days, with the clear aim of closing the deal and bringing Semenyo to the Etihad.

Despite Manchester City's interest, the transfer is still not done. Liverpool remain attentive to the situation, especially after the injury suffered by Alexander Isak, which forced the “Cormorants” to reassess their attacking options. The Anfield club are one of five teams to have expressed an interest in the player, alongside Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea.

At the moment, Manchester City are the only club to have established formal club-to-club contact with Bournemouth. Even so, Liverpool have a relevant asset: sporting director Richard Hughes knows Bournemouth well, having worked at the club in the south of England, which may facilitate any discussions should the Cormorants decide to advance.

Semenyo, for his part, wants a quick definition of his future, well before January 10, the date from which the mechanism of the termination clause is no longer applicable until the summer.

At Bournemouth, the position is clear: the club would like to have the striker for at least the first two games of 2026, against Arsenal on January 3 and Tottenham four days later. Only then will he be more receptive to allowing the goalscorer and one of the team's main figures to leave, according to the aforementioned source.

Arriving in 2023 at Bournemouth, the Ghanaian player has become one of the team's most important players. In the 107 games played for the “cherries”, he scored 31 times.
