Axel Springer has completed the acquisition of Telegraph Media Group, which publishes notable titles including “The Daily Telegraph,” “The Sunday Telegraph,” and operates the website telegraph.co.uk. This transaction was finalized following the receipt of all required regulatory approvals in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Austria.
Mathias Doepfner, CEO of Axel Springer, emphasized the symbolic significance of the purchase, stating, “This is a day we have worked towards for a long time. ‘The Telegraph’ has been a reference point for us. We share values, a commitment to freedom, and a willingness to embrace new technologies.”
