Elliot Anderson Transfer to Manchester City Sets Premier League Record

Manchester City has finalized an agreement with Nottingham Forest for the transfer of midfielder Elliot Anderson, aged 23. This move will establish Anderson as the most expensive player in Premier League history.

Fabrizio Romano, a prominent journalist known for his insights on player transfers, reported that the agreement is set for a record fee of €150 million.

Currently, Anderson is in the United States with the England national team, participating in the World Cup, where he will also undergo his medical examination before officially signing with Manchester City.

Fabrizio Romano Confirms Record Transfer

According to Romano, “City has reached an agreement to secure Elliot Anderson for a record-breaking fee of €150 million. The deal had been in its final stages for several days, and it is now completed between the clubs for a total amount that could reach €150 million.”

Anderson requested his departure from Nottingham Forest to pursue the opportunity with Manchester City, with his medical check to be completed in the United States.

Elliot Anderson Becomes Premier League’s Most Expensive Transfer

Prior to this, the record for the highest transfer fee in Premier League history was held by Alexander Isak, who moved from Newcastle to Liverpool for €145 million last year.

  • Elliot Anderson – €150 million (Manchester City)
  • Alexander Isak – €145 million (Liverpool)
  • Florian Wirtz – €125 million (Liverpool)
  • Enzo Fernandez – €121 million (Chelsea)
  • Jack Grealish – €117.5 million (Manchester City)

During the 2025-2026 season, Anderson played all 38 matches for Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, scoring four goals and providing four assists.

He made his debut for the England national team in September last year and has become a key figure, included in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the World Cup, wearing the number 8 jersey for the tournament.

Anderson joined Nottingham Forest in 2023 from Newcastle for €41 million. Newcastle, constrained by financial fair play regulations, had to sell Anderson three years ago, enabling them to invest in other players while maximizing their compliance with financial regulations.
