Tusk Warns of Strategic Error in Poland-Ukraine Relations

Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk has labeled the ongoing conflict between Polish and Ukrainian politicians as a strategic error that threatens to impact both countries negatively. His remarks come as he seeks to de-escalate tensions stemming from historical grievances, according to reports.
On Friday, Polish President Karol Nawrocki rescinded the highest honor of Poland, the Order of the White Eagle, from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This action led three former Ukrainian presidents and several high-ranking officials to return the honors they had previously received from Poland.
The decision to revoke the Order was prompted by Zelensky’s controversial naming of a military unit as the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), a reference to a nationalist group responsible for massacres of Poles during World War II, which has sparked outrage in Poland.
