On Monday, as on Saturday and Sunday, you will pay a maximum of PLN 6.04 for a liter of Pb95 petrol, PLN 6.58 for Pb98 petrol, and PLN 6.40 for diesel oil.
According to the latest announcement of the Minister of Energy, the following maximum fuel prices will apply on Tuesday, June 16:
- a liter of 95 petrol at a price not higher than PLN 5.97
- a liter of 98 petrol at a price not higher than PLN 6.52
- liter of diesel oil at a price not higher than PLN 6.37
This means that on Tuesday, we will pay 7 groszy less for a liter of 95 gasoline than on Monday, 6 grosz less for a liter of 98 gasoline, and 3 grosz less for a liter of diesel oil.
End of excise tax relief
A regulation lowering the VAT rate on fuels from 23 to 8 percent is in force until June 30. The situation is different in the case of excise duty. The reduced rates – by 29 cents per liter of petrol and 28 cents per liter of diesel oil – are valid only until June 15.
As a source close to the Ministry of Finance informed on Friday, the government does not plan to extend this relief. This means that from mid-June, drivers must take into account an additional increase in fuel prices resulting from the return of standard excise tax rates.

How is the maximum price calculated?
The applicable limits are not set arbitrarily. The Ministry calculates them according to a statutory formula taking into account the average wholesale fuel price on the domestic market, to which excise duty, fuel surcharge, sales margin of PLN 30 per liter and VAT are added.
According to the applicable regulations, the maximum price mechanism may operate as long as the reduced VAT rate on fuels applies.
According to the regulations, the maximum price becomes effective the day after publication in Monitor Polski. If new rates are announced before a weekend or holiday, they remain in force until and including the next business day.
The sale of fuel at a price higher than that set by the state is strictly sanctioned. Entrepreneurs may face a financial penalty of up to PLN 1 million. Compliance with the regulations is monitored by the National Tax Administration.
