According to the data published by the Permanent Electoral Authority, of the 1,138 votes validly cast, 594 were in favor of dismissing the mayor, representing 52.20% of the total. 544 people voted against the dismissal, respectively 47.80%.
1,149 voters out of the total of 1,763 registered on the permanent electoral lists participated in the referendum organized in Sânger commune. Of the votes cast, 11 were declared null.
The question put to the citizens was: “Do you agree with the dismissal of Mr. Vasile Grec from the position of mayor of Sânger commune, Mureș county?”.
The referendum met the conditions provided by law regarding the turnout and the minimum number of validly expressed options required for validating the popular consultation.
The result is to be sent to the competent court, namely the Luduș Court, for official validation. Later, the Prefect's Institution from Mureș county will issue the order terminating the mayor's mandate.
Until the organization of partial local elections for the appointment of a new mayor, the executive powers of the commune will be exercised by the deputy mayor.
The initiative of the referendum belonged to the former mayor of the commune, Alexandru Măgheran, the opponent of Vasile Grec in the local elections of 2024, which was won by the current mayor with a difference of approximately 30 votes.
