Ukrainians managed to cancel a Russian musician’s performance in Hungary. Who are we talking about?

In Budapest, the performance of the violinist of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation Vadim Repin at the opening of the season of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Hungary was canceled after the intervention of the Ukrainian Embassy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported this on June 13 in Telegram.

According to the diplomatic department, Repin’s performance was supposed to be the key number of the concert season, but it was replaced by a performance by a Hungarian violinist.

The concert took place at the Margaret Island Theater (Margitszigeti Színház) in Budapest – one of the leading cultural venues in Central-Eastern Europe, where dozens of international music and theater events are held annually.

“Russian culture is a culture of genocide and war crimes, which should not have any place on international platforms. Ukrainian diplomacy will continue to consistently work to isolate representatives of the Russian cultural space in the global cultural industry,” the Foreign Ministry noted.

This is not the first time Repin's concert has been cancelled. In particular, at the end of February in Florida (USA), under pressure from the Ukrainian community, the Palm Beach Symphony Orchestra excluded the Russian violinist from the concert program and replaced him with another musician, Vilni Media USA reported.

Repin was born in Siberia. On April 1, 2022, the illegitimate president of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, awarded the musician the title of People's Artist of Russia.
