Why not create a Ukrainian faction in the Polish Sejm? There are more than 2 million of us there

Ukrainian volunteer, and former presenter and showman Sergei Prytula believes that Ukrainians should think about having their own representatives in the Polish Sejm. He stated this in an interview, which was published on the RBC-Ukraine website on June 11.

According to the public figure, Ukrainians abroad should join forces to defend their interests.

“Two years ago I was hated for saying that we need to learn to live as if America does not exist. And now we live like this: we have diversified aid, relied on Europeans and provide half of the needs of the front with our own production. This situation, which at first looked very scary, just had to be accepted. The same is with the diaspora. Why not have the ambition to create a Ukrainian faction in the Polish Sejm? There is a Swedish faction in Finnish parliament. There are more than 2.5 million of us in Poland, together with refugees, they are tightly integrated into the economy and contribute more than 2.7% of Polish GDP. This is a colossal potential,” said the volunteer.

He added that Ukrainians themselves must implement this initiative.

“The dozens of disparate foundations and public organizations that exist there must find a common denominator and platform. There must be people who understand: having those who lobby for the interests of the national minority of Ukrainians in the Polish parliament is better than not having them. And move along this track,” he noted.
