Influencer Alexandru Zidaru, known as Makaveli, was picked up by the police on Thursday and taken to hearings, in a tax evasion case, judicial sources told Agerpres.
The hearing takes place within a criminal file instrumented by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Court, in which four people are targeted, Makaveli and three of his friends, accused of committing the crimes of continuous tax evasion and complicity in tax evasion.
The criminal activity would have consisted in the fact that the persons in question would have hidden, repeatedly, and would not have declared the income generated from the activity of content creator on social media platforms, in total 3,324,147 lei.
Thus, damage was caused to the general consolidated budget of the state in the amount of 574,000 lei.
Who is Makaveli
Makaveli was an adviser to Diana Şoşoacă and ran in the last local elections for the Capital City Hall, withdrawing in favor of Anca Alexandrescu.
Makaveli is one of the influencers paid by Bogdan Peșchir, who appear in the declassified SRI document after the CSAT meeting regarding the canceled elections of 2024. He appeared as part of the network of high-profile characters on TikTok who promoted the candidate Călin Georgescu.
On December 16, summoned to hearings at the IGPR in the case of Călin Georgescu's illegal financing on TikTok, influencer Makaveli used obscene words to the wife of Antena 3 CNN journalist Mihai Gâdea.
A few days later, on December 20, present with Diana Șoșoăcă at the Parliament, the two caused a scandal in the halls of the institution. Makaveli and Şoșoacă shouted at a journalist from Antena 3 CNN: “Where is Gâdea?”, “Why don't you do interviews anymore, madam?”, while other parliamentarians of SOS Romania informed Șoșoacă that she interrupted the live broadcast of the television.
