On June 8, the Chapter of the Order of the White Eagle considered the issue of awarding this award to President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. The press secretary of Polish President Karol Nawrocki, Rafal Leszkiewicz, wrote about this on the social network X.
“The Chapter expressed its opinion to the President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki, who took part in the meetings. The President will make a decision in due course,” he informed.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski sharply expressed the hope that the Polish leadership will not make absurd decisions.
“I hope that after the decisions of the Chapter and the President of Poland Karol Nawrocki, it will not turn out that ex-German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, who takes money from [нелегитимного президента страны-агрессора РФ Владимира] Putin will continue to be a holder of the Order of the White Eagle, and those who fight Putin will be deprived of it,” said the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry.
Schröder has been a Knight of the Order of the White Eagle since 2002. The award was presented to him by ex-President of Poland Alexander Kwasniewski.
