The doctor told how often you need to take vacation

Regular short vacations help you better cope with stress and emotional load from work. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to Alexander Sergievich, psychiatrist, associate professor and head of the department of clinical psychology and psychotherapy at the Medical Complex of the Far Eastern Federal University.

According to the specialist, the main rule is not to ignore vacation. Some workaholics believe that without them work processes will stop, but work, as the doctor noted, “will never go anywhere.”

“When it comes to vacations, it’s not the duration that’s important, but the regularity. There are publications that short but frequent vacations provide a more sustainable positive effect than one long vacation per year. The shorter the pause between vacations, the better the body,” he said.

The doctor explained that regular rest helps reduce emotional stress, especially if a person shows signs of burnout. This has a positive effect on both the psycho-emotional state and physical well-being. Adequate rest is especially important for workers who have less than two days off per week. According to Sergievich, two days off is considered the critical minimum a person needs to recover.

The specialist also noted that not only the number of days of rest is important, but also its quality. Managers should only disturb employees on vacation in exceptional cases. The same rule, according to the doctor, should apply to bosses who are themselves on vacation.
