
On June 5, in the Solomensky district of Kyiv, a Mercedes drove into a pedestrian zone at high speed, as a result of which four people were killed and three more were injured. The press service of the Kyiv police reported this on Telegram.
According to preliminary data from law enforcement officers, the accident occurred at approximately 17.30 at the intersection of Vadim Getman and Ushinsky streets. The driver of a Mercedes was moving at high speed, lost control and drove into an underground passage where there were people.
As a result of the accident, four people died – two men, a woman and a 12-year-old teenager, the prosecutor's office said. The car was driven by a 49-year-old resident of the Kherson region. Rescuers freed him from the car, and he is now in intensive care in serious condition.
Ukrainskaya Pravda, citing sources in law enforcement agencies, writes that the driver is the head of the religious community Pavel Pleshivtsev.
An investigative team and patrol police worked at the scene of the incident to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
Based on the fact of the accident, criminal proceedings have been opened for violation of road safety rules or the operation of transport by persons driving vehicles, if they resulted in the death of several persons (Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
