Society's reaction to the worst attack on Romania's security, dominated by swearing and reproaches. Ștefureac: “We are not capable of solidarity”
Sociologist and director of INSCOP Research Remus Ștefureac sent a message online after a block of flats in Galati was hit by a drone. He believes that the Romanian society's reaction to such an incident is insufficient and draws attention to the effects of the hybrid war.

“Our nation needs a moment of serious introspection. The nation and every citizen,” wrote Ștefureac in a post published on Facebook.
The analyst claims that the incident represents “the worst attack on the security of this country in more than three decades” and criticizes the lack of a united reaction from the citizens, the political class and the elites.
“The citizens, the nation, the elites, the political class are not capable of national solidarity, of a minimum of patriotism manifested in relation to the most serious attack on the security of this country in the last more than three decades”, he said.
In his opinion, instead of a civic mobilization in the face of an attack on the civilian population and the sovereignty of the state, the public space is dominated by disputes and mutual accusations.
“It seems terrible to me that, with the exception of a few isolated cases, ordinary citizens, analysts, journalists, political and intellectual elites of Romania only project, at such a critical moment, a lamentable string of onomatopoeia, swearing and reproaches, instead of a minimal civic mobilization in the face of an attack, deliberate or not, on the civilian population and the sovereignty of this nation”, transmitted Ștefureac.
At the same time, the sociologist warns about the long-term impact of the information war and claims that Romania must respond more effectively to the phenomena of disinformation and propaganda.
“The informational/cognitive/hybrid war unleashed for over a decade on the territory of our country is producing results. It is time for a counter-offensive. At least on this front of the informational war marked by disinformation, propaganda and concerted subversive actions”, he concluded.
We remind you that a drone crashed on Thursday night on a block of flats in Galati, the incident being followed by an explosion and fire at an apartment located on the 10th floor of the building. A RO-Alert message was issued for Brăila, Tulcea and Galați. Two injured people received medical attention on the spot, then they were transported to the hospital.
Later, about 70 people from that block were evacuated. The incident – the most serious incident on Romanian territory since the beginning of the war – triggered a maximum alert at the highest level, a CSAT meeting being called urgently.
