If your kitchen hood is covered with a sticky layer of grease and the grates have turned yellow with age, do not rush to buy an expensive spray. There is a simple and effective way to restore cleanliness using mustard powder, which is found in almost every kitchen.
A simple cleaning paste recipe:
- Mix 1 tablespoon mustard powder with a little hot water to make a thick paste.
- Apply the paste to oily areas, scrub with an old toothbrush or hard sponge.
- Leave on for a couple of minutes, then rinse with warm water and pat dry
Unlike aggressive chemicals, mustard does not eat the skin of your hands, does not smell like a solvent, and does an excellent job even of old grease. The result will be noticeable immediately: the grilles will sparkle, and the hood will stop collecting dust.
