Unemployment in Poland is rising rapidly. Already 111 poviats with a double-digit indicator

As we wrote on Tuesday morning, the unemployment rate rose to 6 percent in April. with 5.3 percent a year earlier. However, unemployment is not evenly distributed throughout the country. There are places where it is low, where it even drops, and places where it has increased significantly.
According to the Central Statistical Office data, the highest unemployment rate is in Szydłowiec County in the province Masovian Voivodeship. During the year it decreased by 0.1 percentage point. This is the only poviat with over twenty percent unemployment, while a year ago there were two such poviats. Well, but the unemployment rate in the latter, i.e Brzozów County from the province Podkarpackie, decreased by as much as 0.9 percentage points. year on year to 19.7 percent This is the greatest improvement in the labor market, although the situation there is very far from good – 19.7%. this is the second worst result in the country.
However, while the number of towns with over twenty percent unemployment decreased, those with double-digit unemployment increased. In April this year there were 111 such poviats, while a year earlier there were only 89.
The second largest drop in the unemployment rate was in the Grudziądz poviat in the province. Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, where the indicator decreased by 0.6 percentage points. year on year to 10.6 percent The third case is the Grajewo district of the province. Podlaskie, where unemployment dropped by 0.5 percentage points. y/y to 11 percent
Where is low unemployment in Poland?
There is also the other side of the coin, i.e. places with the lowest unemployment. There are only five towns where the rate is lower than 2%. A year ago there were 11 such.

The lowest unemployment rate is in the Poznań district (1.4%), but it increased there by 0.2 percentage points during the year. The next place is taken by the city of Poznań itself (1.6%), equal to Warsaw. Poznań lost its advantage over the capital, because the indicator increased by 0.4 percentage points in a year, while in Warsaw it increased by 0.2 percentage points.
The unemployment rate decreased only in 10 poviats, and the most in the above-mentioned one Brzozowski County (-0.9 percentage points to 19.7%) from the voivodeship Podkarpackie. It is in second place Grudziądz district (-0.6 percentage points to 10.6%) from the voivodeship Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The third step of the podium belongs to Ciechanów County from the province Mazowieckie, where unemployment dropped by 0.4 percentage points. up to 8.4 percent
The largest increase in the number of unemployed people was in Łódź, Kraków and Wrocław. Over 3,000 people came there. unemployed during the year. The greatest decrease is due to the Brzozowski district in the province. Podkarpackie (by 0.3 percentage points to 19.7%).
