CTP compares Nicușor Dan with Ciolacu and Simion, after the announcement of the contract regarding relations with the USA. “Soon the strategic cake will appear, like the Dubai cake”

Cristian Tudor Popescu criticized the announcement made by the Presidential Administration regarding the conclusion of a “strategic consultancy and assistance” contract in relations with the United States, comparing in ironic terms the approach with George Simion's visit to the USA or with the intention of Marcel Ciolacu, then prime minister, to appoint the businessman Dragoș Sprînceana as a special envoy.

In an intervention on Monday evening on B1 TV, CTP said that through the contract announced today by the Presidential Administration, worth 565,000 dollars/month, “Nicușor Dan wants to surpass – and is surpassing – former Prime Minister Ciolacu”.

He also compared the president to the AUR leader.

“This is Simion's method, to pay all kinds of millions over there to get you into the kitchen of the White House, through the back door, or, please, meet the guard there. Let's think strictly logically, mathematically – 3.4 million euros (…), this money is given by Romania, that company, which takes this money, has to give in exchange what? What to get? Some business of the United States with Romania is profitable for Romania? Well, do you think something like that can be achieved?”, added the journalist.

CTP believes that, “at least as long as the Trump administration is in place, the United States will not give a cent to Romania”.

“Any deal if it is done, with Romania, regardless of whether it is a commercial deal or an arms deal, the United States will not lose, the United States will gain from this deal. Otherwise, it is not done, we are not even talking,” Cristian Tudor Popescu also claims.

“Soon the 'strategic cake' will appear”

CTP also commented wryly on the frequency with which the term “strategic” is used on the public stage.

“We are a country of “strategists” (…), everything is “strategic”. I think that soon a cake like the one that appeared, “Dubai”, will appear, the “strategic cake”, which will be in trend in all the restaurants in the Old Center”, he added.

The journalist believes that such a contract would have been appropriate “on material matters that might really interest the United States.”

“I would have hoped to hear from Mr. President that contracts are concluded on rare metals with the United States, on gas from the Black Sea, possibly Exxon is called back. We have something to conclude, not on consultancy, (but) on material issues that could really interest the United States, and let's try to have some good negotiators there, really, so that Romania does not lose”, Cristian Tudor Popescu also declared.
