During the three days of the XX All-Russian specialized forum “Modern Security Systems”, which was held in Krasnoyarsk on May 20-22, more than 5 thousand schoolchildren visited the interactive educational platform of Krasnoyarsk Railways.

The “Country of Railways” platform was developed by railway specialists to teach safe behavior at railway facilities.

This year, the center of attraction was the training simulator of the Ermak freight locomotive: children were able to feel themselves in the role of a driver and make sure that even with emergency braking it is impossible to quickly stop a heavy train. He drives at high speed and covers another kilometer in a matter of seconds before coming to a complete stop. Therefore, it is forbidden to cross the tracks in front of an approaching train, and you must remove your headphones and hood before crossing.

Schoolchildren who tried themselves as “pilots” of the most powerful electric locomotive in Siberia were explained another important rule – they should not climb onto the roofs of cars and bridge supports. Above the tracks there are wires under enormous voltage, it is 125 times more than in a regular household outlet. Electric current of such strength strikes already at a distance of two meters.

The children consolidated the acquired knowledge at master classes, where, together with specialists, they made keychains and magnets with their own hands depicting safety signs – “Beware of the train!”, “High voltage!”, “Walking on the tracks is prohibited!” They took the crafts with them as a reminder of important rules.

The holidays are coming up, when schoolchildren have a lot of free time. Therefore, in May, the Krasnoyarsk Railway holds a large-scale interregional children's event “Make Way for Trains!”, including safety lessons, thematic and interactive excursions, educational quests in schools and technical schools.

Over the past two years, 10 minors have been injured on the highway, 6 of them fatally. All accidents occurred due to violations of safety rules when children and teenagers walked without adult supervision.

Krasnoyarsk Railway appeals to parents: failure to comply with the rules leads to tragedies. Do not leave your children unattended and develop safe behavior skills in them from an early age, including by leading by example.
