High risk of floods in Brașov county. Mountain rescuers announce routes to avoid

Tourists who go to the mountains, in Braşov county, are advised to avoid, during these days, trips to the northern valleys of the Făgăraş Mountains, where floods may occur, following torrential rains. There is a high risk of floods in the areas of Valea Sâmbetei, Valea Viştea Mare and Valea Arpaşu Mare, warn mountain rescuers, according to News.ro.
“Considering the torrential rains of the last few hours and the significant increase in water flows, the mountain rescuers from the Braşov Salvamont County Service recommend that you avoid traveling in the northern valleys of the Făgăraş Mountains, where the terrain conditions have become dangerous. The most affected areas are Valea Sâmbetei, Valea Viștea Mare and Valea Arpaşu Mare, where there is a high risk due to floods, difficult crossings and erosion caused by water”. informs, on Friday evening, the head of Salvamont Braşov, Sebastian Marinescu.
The rescuers recommend that tourists who go to the Valea Sâmbetei area travel exclusively on the marked tourist route. On Valea Sâmbetei, the forest road must be avoided, as it is affected by the high flow of water and presents a high degree of danger.
Also, the mountain rescuers recommend all tourists to carefully plan their tours on the mountain, to follow the evolution of weather conditions and to show increased caution during this period.
