Becali declared that he spoke with the president Nicusor Dan on Thursday, after the other representatives of the non-affiliated parties, because he could not arrive until after 12:00, writes News.ro.

“I told him, Mr. President, if I were, I would use all the levers that the power of president gives me, to do good to the people, because that's why they made me president, to do good to the people.

And if someone stays put, like Bolojan, then I'll send Pahonţu too. To give information about facts, not about lies. Let's see, me, who are you, are you so fair? Are you such a good, clean boy, why do you keep a country in place? How do you keep a country in place?”, Becali said.

He adds that he also spoke with the PSD president, Sorin Grindeanu, after the meeting with the president.

“I spoke with Grindeanu after that, I'm better friends with Grindeanu. He doesn't know the name yet either. But what's certain is that he will be an independent. I saw that you put Tomac, there is also the minister from Nazare, and that is being circulated.

I mean, what I talked about with Grindeanu, I think he is not upset. He said there are several options on the list. To which I said, Nazare and Tomac, what I heard from you in the press, and these two are on the list. But it's not decided yet”said George Becali.

Becali also stated that he considers Alexandru Nazare, the Minister of Finance, much more competent than Eugen Tomac, MEP and honorary adviser to the president, although he says he is friends with the latter.

“I asked Grindeanu about Tomac and Nazare, he said: “Nea Gigi, they are also on the list”. After that I told him, from my point of view, Nazare is a specialist.

That's what I told him. If you want to put Tomac, put Tomac, but it doesn't compare, like competence. It's like from heaven to earth. And I'm friends with Tomac, I'm not with Nazare”, completed Becali.

Eugen Tomac would be one of the three options for prime minister informally discussed in Cotroceni, political sources claim for “Adevărul”. He was appointed honorary advisor for the relationship with Romanians everywhere, a position he took over from October 2025.

Three years later, during the Emil Boc government, he was appointed secretary of state at the Department for Romanians Everywhere, a mandate he continued in the Executive led by Mihai Răzvan Ungureanu. During this period, he supported and implemented several educational and cultural programs dedicated to the Romanian communities in Ukraine, Serbia and the Republic of Moldova.
