Ilie Bolojan and Dominic Fritz set up the strategy before the official consultations with Nicușor Dan. With what message do I go to Cotroceni?

The dismissed Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan declared on Saturday, after having a meeting with USR leader Dominic Fritz, at Timişoara City Hall, that the two parties will be aligned at Monday's consultations in Cotroceni and regardless of the governing formula that will be found, they will support the projects related to improving the Romanian economy.

“On the political level, we will be aligned in the consultations with Mr. President, on Monday, in such a way that, based on the experience we had in these months of government, on the one hand, we will support, in whatever form of government will be found in the next period, the projects related to the absorption of European funds, related to the financial stability of Romania and the economic recovery programs in such a way that, on the one hand, we will close this period that we could not avoid, from budget constraints and deficit reduction and to move into a stage of economic recovery. We will also support the projects related to the PNRR, which, as I announced, we will submit in the next two weeks so that all milestones are met and we do not lose this money. The two parties will support the two projects that are Romania's commitments to the European Union,” said Bolojan.

The renegotiation of the National Recovery and Resilience Program (PNRR) is a priority for the Government, the PNL leader pointed out.

“It was a discussion based on two components, on the administrative aspects related to the development projects of the municipality of Timisoara and, of course, the political aspects, namely what happens starting next week, related to the consultations for the new government, but also to the actions that we can carry out in the following period. As you know, in every county seat in Romania there are important projects, a good part of which are financed by PNRR and for us, the completion of these projects, the renegotiation program in the next two weeks, they are a priority and that's why the completion of these projects is vital for the municipality of Timisoara”, declared Ilie Bolojan.

Ilie Bolojan also referred to the projects that can be taken over by local administrations.

“Also, there are many projects that are currently in the administration of the government, in the administration of the Romanian state, which can be transferred to the county residences, so that the assets that today are not used properly, are used. And during this period, the decentralization component was important and we will support it in the next period as well, regardless of the position of the two parties. But the transfer of assets to the town halls, so that they can be put to good use, so that they can be capitalized, is an important direction that we support”, said Bolojan.

Official consultations at Cotroceni

President Nicușor Dan organizes the official consultations on Monday, at the Cotroceni Palace, with eight parliamentary groups, the first guest being the Social Democratic Party (PSD).

The head of state reiterated this week that the current political crisis in Bucharest “will be resolved in a pro-Western direction” and ruled out the possibility of early elections, citing the constitutional difficulties of such a scenario.

Dan said on Friday that he would not make an announcement on Monday or Tuesday about the new premier he would appoint. In consultations with political leaders the “fundamental question” will be “what is the government's majority to support a government”.

“It is our responsibility that whether it is a technocratic, minority, majority government, it is supported by a majority, otherwise there will be tensions,” the president said
