A bill banning fortune telling and esoteric services was introduced to the Verkhovna Rada

On May 15, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine registered bill No. 15251, which provides for liability for the provision of paid services in fortune telling, extrasensory perception, magic, esotericism, and the occult. This is stated in the annotation to the bill.

Also, according to the document, advertising, popularization and dissemination of information about the provision of such services will be considered an administrative offense.

The bill was introduced by the people's deputy from the Servant of the People, Gheorghe Mazurashu. A day earlier, he also headed the inter-factional deputy association “Search for the Kingdom of God and Its Truth.” The creation of the latter was announced by First Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Alexander Kornienko during a meeting in parliament, which was broadcast by the Rada channel.

“The Kingdom of God will definitely not interfere with us,” Kornienko commented, but he did not say who exactly would be included in the association.

Mazurash's assistant-consultant Nikolai Gunko noted on Facebook that the draft law banning magic is a “response to the information wave of recent days” and announced details over time.

The bill banning paid fortune-telling and esoteric services appeared against the backdrop of a statement by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office that the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Ermak, who is suspected of involvement in the laundering of UAH 460 million, coordinated personnel issues with a person who is signed in his phone as “Veronica Feng Shui Office.” She turned out to be 51-year-old Kiev resident Veronika Anikievich, who also appears under the name Danilenko and calls herself an astrology consultant. According to Schemes journalists, her father Fyodor Anikievich is a citizen of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation and a former representative of the Opposition bloc in Genichesk.

After the searches that law enforcement officers conducted at the end of November 2025 in Ermak’s apartment, blogger Igor Lachenkov (Telegram channel “Lachen Writes”) stated that Ermak was allegedly found with a voodoo doll, a bunch of mirrors, objects for rituals and “strange icons and bracelets.” The blogger did not disclose the source of this information, but noted that “this is not a joke.”
